My Street-Legal Rally Car

I bought my first car back in 2001.  I was really into rally-racing at the time, which has a huge international following but isn’t very well-known in the States.  In any case, it typically involves all-wheel drive cars — not trucks or SUVs — that race on unpaved roads in all weather conditions.

Up until a few years ago, the two big rally-spec cars weren’t imported into the US. They are the Subaru WRX and the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO.  Ever since these two automakers got smart and started making these models available to Americans, I’ve been wanting a WRX.

I live in Seattle, and there are a lot of used models available because the AWD is so good for all of the rain we get here.  Since I didn’t have quite enough cash saved to buy one outright, I got myself pre-approved for a Seattle car loan via an online service a couple of days ago and found a turbocharged WRX at an independent used car dealer just down the street from my apartment.  We’re supposed to finalize the purchase this weekend — this thing is going to rock!
