I don’t agree with Santorum’s every position, but across the board he is as good as any of the candidates and better than most. He is of course best known for being a strong social conservative, which is appealing to some but a turn-off to others. But if you’ve ever listened to him on the Bennett show, it is clear that he has holds conservative views on economic issues as well. Perhaps most importantly, he seems to actually mean what he says.

Life, Eric, is not fair. That was my point.

The media will take this and beat Cain over the head with it as he tries to run for cover. As they should.

Remember when there was some footage of Obama suposedly ogling some six o’clock woman (look it up, I can’t tell you people everything)? That got play for days. If there was ANY HINT of Obama even not opening the door for a first date advice, he’d have been hammered.

Ken Riedel deems it fantastic to believe Obama, whose father came from Kenya, would involve himself in Kenyan internal politics. In fact, while he was still a Senator, Obama’s office had extensive contact with a Mr Odinga, a candidate for the Kenyan Presidency. What please advice Obama gave to his nominally Christian cousin is unknown. But Something prompted Mr. Odinga to go to Kenya’s moslem community and promise them Sharia law should he win. Mr. Odinga lost said election, and the moslems went on a rampage of burning churches and massacred hundreds of Christians, until a power sharing agreement was reached to include Mr. Odinga in the government. Since then, folks going to Kenya investigating the circumstances and location of Obama’s birth, prompted by statements made by several of Obama’s Kenyan relatives, have been dealt with harshly by Kenyan authorities. Perhaps as the son of immigrant parents, I find it less hard to see the son of a Kenyan father taking interest in Kenyan politics, and once in Federal office, meddling in it. Does it still seem fantastic to you, Ken?

I used to live on Mount Pleasant and had a business in downtown Charleston. Although it has grown and become so much busier since my days I still love advice it there. It is the closest place to paradise that I know (yes, inspite of the bugs etc) and I lived there during Hugo. If ever I come into a little money a retirement home is exactly what I will be spending it on, I still visit frequently as my son lives on Folly Beach. I love the people, way of life, the culture, architecture and food. I never found it difficult to join groups, everyone was so welcoming to this foreigner. Love you Charleston, there is nowhere quite like it and I now feel quite homesick for it just writing about the place. It is my soul home.

Personally, I buy bonds with the intent of holding them to maturity. If I have a 6% bond and interest rates fall to 4%, my bond is worth more. But, I’m sacrificing the 6% interest rate if I sell it, unless I have a different investment than can pay closer to the 6% than 4%. And spreads on bonds for small investors tend to be high, so I would never get the full appreciation anyway.

In the stock advice market, I can pick particular stocks and identify likely gaps in value. Macro govt can, of course, affect things, but a good stock is a good stock. With bonds, I feel like I am trying to outsmart the market on govt policy; and that is likely a losing proposition.
